A recent visit to Lamar, Arkansas proved to be very fruitful for members of the Washington County Cemetery Preservation Group. Both Mike Freels and Bob Young enjoyed the instruction provided by Jonathan Appell concerning gravestone cleaning and the basics of gravestone repair as well as the association with other like-minded folks.
It never ceases to amaze me on how much you can learn each time you attend a workshop. This workshop was sponsored by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program who tries to have programs like this in the spring and fall of every year.
Pictures above is the group of people who were at the workshop to learn about cleaning and basic repairs. This cemetery is Brown Cemetery located near Lamar, AR.
